In good taste
La Dragon is a fine-dining Chinese restaurant and champagne lounge located in Kilmarnock.
It opened in 2018, but in 2023, they needed a social media manager to post updates, photograph dishes and cocktails, and refresh the website content.
The first three months of social media marketing.
In October 2023, La Dragon hired me to manage their Instagram and Facebook. They already had an established following of about 13,000 people, but they didn’t have a strategic or consistent approach in place.
In the first three months of managing the Facebook account...
- Reach increased by 747% to over 79,000 people
- Content interactions rose 68,000%
- Page visits increased by 1100%
- They gained 115 followers

A consistent social media marketing strategy.
I remained consistent with our social media strategy, and in 2024, they reached 163,000 people – more than 11 times their follower count. Compared to the previous year, content interactions increased by 32%, link clicks rose by 280%, and page visits increased by 135%.
Statistics today.
After two years of managing the account, analytics show steady improvement. In the most recent 90-day period (22 June – 19 September 2025) compared to the 90 days before,
- Views increased by 28.9%
- Content interactions increased by 13.3%
- Link clicks increased by 12.4%
- Page visits increased by 6.5%
Improvements remain steady through tracking what types of content perform well, seasonal launches (such as summer cocktails), and engagement tactics like encouraging followers to tag friends, expanding reach and driving reservations.
Instagram marketing strategy.
On Instagram, I had to adapt the strategy slightly, since people are less likely to tag friends, and the demographic is slightly younger. After analysing the data, the strategy included using reels, tapping into relevant trends, and ensuring the Instagram grid reflected the brand, emphasising the black and gold colour palette through graphics designed by our creative director. I also made use of Instagram stories stickers, including polls and question boxes.
From January 1 to September 19, 2025 – compared to the previous 9.5-month period – reach increased by 461%, content interactions and link clicks increased by 100%, page visits increased by 15%, and follows rose by 6,000%.
It is important that the strategies are tailored for each social media platform to ensure the best possible reach and customer conversion.

Strategic and luxurious website copy.
In addition to managing La Dragon’s social media, I was also asked to rewrite the website copy, with the brief advising that it should feel luxurious, clever, and enticing, while also boosting SEO.

Before updating La Dragon’s website copy, the restaurant’s visibility was about 40% on Google. SEO efforts and updated branded copy improved the visibility up to 79%.
The average keyword position was also 50 before website copy updates. After just a month of working on the copy and incorporating the essential keywords onto the site, the average position of our tracked keywords was 5. This continued to improve to an average position of 2.5 after a year of working on the website and updating it with new information, events, and blogs.
In the last 30 days, site visits and site engagement have both
improved by 25% compared to the 30 days prior, highlighting that we continue to make changes to improve visibility and keep our Google rankings.
